photo blog

my lack of attention to this blog can be blamed on something - and it's a good thing. That would be my new photo blog. I have decided to start a more professional blog strictly for my photography and art. This one will still be used for other musings, finds and thoughts. So everyone venture over to my [new] other blog and let me know what you think.

Something wise I stumbled upon...

The greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
To laugh is to risk appearing to be a fool. To weep is to risk appearing sentimental. To reach out for another is to risk involvement. To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self. To place your ideas, your dreams, before a crowd is to risk their loss. To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying. To hope is to risk disappointment. To try is the risk failure.
But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing has nothing ... and knows nothing... and is nothing.
They may avoid suffering and sorrow but they cannot lean to feel, change, grow, love, or live.
Chained by their certitudes, they are slaves; they have forfeited their freedom.
Only a person who risks is Free.

Everything is run by laws. Law of nature, the law of physics, the law of the governments. But the Law of God supercedes and can override all of that. But its not just law. Its also the beauty. The beauty of mercy and compassion for someone who deserves death. Creativity and art is beauty. But life should never be guided by feelings. when I use the word instinct, I mean a gut feeling in my stomach based on knowledge in my head accumilated from experience in life. Life should never be guided by feelings, A life guided by reason and imagination is best. A life guided by the Word of God is better.
-Paul Marshall

I have no idea who Paul Marshall is, I found this online, but I think it is refreshing and inspirational. Human knowledge and feelings really only go so far...

Holiday Home & Entertainment

This was a quick project I finished for the Park Record... it's a special section insert. It is what it is - boring commercial design! But, alas, it is what they want. I personally want to do some more artistic stuff! Stay tuned... there is some in the works :)

the creative mind

"The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this: A human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive. To him... a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death. Add to this cruelly delicate organism the overpower...ing necessity to
create, create, create--- so that without creating something of meaning, his very breath is cut off from him. He must create, must pour out creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency he is not really alive unless he is creating." - Pearl S. Buck.

Holy Water Buffalo

Tommy, Jeff, Nash and Steven are the members of Holy Water Buffalo.
They are rockin' it and are sounding better and better with every day. Their hard work is starting to pay off. I'm so excited to see where their music will take them. They have lots of potential and I think they will go far. They've had an awesome repsonse so far I'm so stoked for them!
And.... since I'm Tommy's girlfriend, I get to do all the bands' designs (logos, CDs, flyers, merch etc.) as well as all the photography. So I'm equally excited to be able to do what I love for the people I love!Take a listen to their all-original-music at

must listen

This band is so gooood. Fabrizio Moretti (drummer from the strokes) formed Little Joy along with some other super talented musicians. I highly recommend this album to everyone. This is one of my favorite songs on it. Binki Shapiro has such a beautiful voice.

ALSO... on the must listen list are:
Blitzen Trapper & Delta Spirit... amazing on CD and live. They ROCK it.
Julian Casablanca's newly released album Phrazes for the Young is also a treat for the ears
